Quick Update!!!

Hello dearies, how has your past week been?!

We’ve had quite an exciting one around here! Last night we attended the Las Vegas Bride/ Beautiful Bride Magazine Wedding Awards at the Palazzo.  Guess what happened?  We won!!! We won the Best Wedding Floral Shop 2012!!! Hooray! It was such an exciting night and we had a fabulous time! Phew- now that I’ve got that out of the way (can you tell I’m excited?!)- I have some more awesome happenings to report.

This past Saturday, our very own ‘Lil Moe with her band, The Dirty Panties, performed at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.  They were part of the MMA Treme Showdown Main Event! Now, for all of you that don’t realize just how big this is….let me just tell you it’s a HUGE DEAL.  Of course, they totally rocked it! We are so proud and excited for our little pink and purple-haired bombshell!

The past few weeks have been flying by!  It’s insane.  Hopefully by next week it will be cool enough outside to actually wear a coat….fingers crossed!

Until next time… xoxo

Happy Wednesday loves!

How was everybody’s Thanksgiving?  Nearly a week has past since turkey day…have you recovered from your food-induced coma yet?!  My fridge almost looks normal again-it’s no longer stuffed to the max with amazingly delicious leftovers. Granted, there is still PLENTY in there, but it has shrunken down to a respectable size over this past week.  I know that may seem a tad excessive, considering I live alone-but cut me a break!  This year I had a total of three Thanksgivings.  Yes, three.  A few days before National NomNomNom Day, I decided I wanted to test out my epic (and still non-existent) cooking skills by throwing a little shin-dig at my place.  What better way to truly test your skills than by using your closest friends as human guinea pigs! With the magnificent help of my best friend, Alex, we managed to cook a pretty decent meal. (Meaning: she did most of the cooking while I just stood there in my green polka-dot apron sipping cider and acted like I knew what I was doing.)  Later on, a few of my close comrades arrived and we had a lovely “Friendsgiving” together.  I enjoyed it!

Then, Thursday rolled around.  Oh yes, the day of all days.  My family usually shares their meal during the earlier part of the day.  There were a total of fifteen of us at my aunt’s house- and there was no shortage of food.  At all.  There probably could’ve been thirty-two of us and we would still have leftovers.  It was oh so scrumptious.  Then, since apparently I like to beat up my stomach, I went over to my friend’s family’s dinner.  Don’t fret- I really just went over there for the fabulous company.  We ended the night by building a campfire in the backyard, and jumping in the Jacuzzi.  The day was pretty amazing! There really is so much to be thankful for…family, friends, delicious food, a good pair of jeans, apple cider, the perfect shade of red lipstick, Jacuzzis…the list could go on for days.  Even though Thanksgiving has past, remember to be thankful for the little things lovelies.  It gives you a pleasant little tingle in your gut full of warmth and love when you do.  I know that we are days away from the craziness of Christmas time, but for now just revel in the joy that is November and all its pumpkin-filled gloriousness!

Oh, October!

Good morning lovelies!

How is everybody’s October going so far? Hopefully it is as exciting and incredible as mine! October is seriously one of the best months of the year.  There is so much to do! Then, after an entire month of awesome-ness, you get to celebrate the most fun-filled holiday of the year!

I started this spooky season out right, and attended The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Regency Tropicana Theaters.  This event happens the first Saturday of every month, but the October showing is especially worthwhile.  Everyone dresses up in their Halloween costumes or as one of the characters. Then a contest proceeds, of course! The entire evening is loud, raunchy, and fun.  I believe everyone should experience the live show at least once!

Looking for something a little more outdoorsy?  Then you should try Gilcrease Orchard! Yes, an actual orchard in Las Vegas.  Weird, right?  There are sixty acres of fruit and veggies for you to choose from!  You pick and pay as you go, and let me tell you it’s TOTALLY worth it! Right now, there are sweet potatoes, zucchini, apples, squash, radishes, eggplants, okra, and cucumbers just waiting to be picked! Plus, the pumpkin patch just opened up.  Who doesn’t love those?

Calling all zombie lovers.  Hi Scores Bar-Arcade in Henderson is the place to be! Every Sunday they (along with the fabulous L33t Ladies) host The Walking Dead viewing party! There is a zombie costume contest, a trivia competition, a drinking game, and a raffle! The cast of Evil Dead the Musical 4D was there for the premiere this past Sunday.  After the showing, a Left 4 Dead 2 and Resident Evil 6 tournament takes place.  It was a blast! I can hardly wait for next week!

If you are in Las Vegas anytime during October, then there is one place that you MUST go to get your scare on. Fright Dome at Circus Circus.  It is ranked one of the top 5 scariest haunted attractions in the nation! Basically, they turn the Adventure Dome into one giant haunted house, and trust me it is SCARY.  I have yet to go this year, but it’s definitely on my list! The entire dome is blacked out, and then filled with fog, strobe lights, eerie sound effects, and lasers.  There are a total of five haunted houses, four ‘scare zones’, and ten rides to choose from. Plus, there are random scare actors roaming around to scare you when you least expect it. Yeah, once you’re in, there is no escape! Grab your group of friends (trust me, you will want as many people as possible to cling to) and head down there….if you dare.

Another spooky treat at Circus Circus is the 13th Floor Experience. You board a haunted elevator that takes you to the 13th floor of the hotel, where you are taken on a guided tour through 13 different rooms.  Each room has a different story, and a different scare tactic.  It is nowhere near as intense as the Fright Dome, but it’s still a good time!

This month is already flying by, so take some time and try to enjoy it!

It’s almost here…

Guess what is just around the corner…….that’s right AUTUMN!!!! I cannot convey just how stoked I am!  For me, it’s the absolute best time of the year.  I can wear comfy sweaters, drink pumpkin spice lattes (ooooh yes!), shop for the perfect pair of boots, and go for a walk in the park during the day without dying from heat exhaustion!

Feeling a little peeved about putting your swimsuit away just yet? I’m more than certain you can still squeeze an itty bitty bit of summer out in the next week or so.  Especially if you live out here in the desert like me!

If you are on the same page as me, however, then start getting ready for all this epic-ness:

  1. The weather. Come on, pretty obvious-but so true! With all this heat out here in Vegas, I am more than ready for a nice break.
  1. The fashion.  Jeans, sweaters, long sleeves, knits, hats, caps, jackets, boots, and scarves, scarves, SCARVES.  Need I say more?
  1. Football.  Okay, I’ll admit I am not the biggest sports fan-but I do enjoy watching a game from time to time.
  1. The television lineup. All your favorite shows come back on the air for a new season! Um, yes! Now I can stop obsessing over last season’s cliffhanger.
  1. The deliciousness.  All those nice, warm, spice-filled smells start wafting from your kitchen, holiday-scented candles, or your nearest Starbucks.
  1. The holidays.  Halloween? Thanksgiving? Best holidays ever!

See?  Autumn isn’t so bad, right?

Everyone loves a wedding, but what about a wedding for your dog?

Yes, it turns out many people throw lavish and formal weddings for their spoiled pups. They don’t skimp out on the details either. What all would you need for such an event? The usual tying-the-knot traditions are all present with only a few changes. There are the invitations, the venue, the doggie-safe wedding cake, treats, water bowls, and of course the clean up bags.  Plus, let’s not forget wedding outfits for the bride and groom! These “woof weddings” even have their own wedding planners! There is a company called Doggie I Do’s located in Canada that offers basic wedding packages for 25 guests starting around 4,000 dollars!

The world’s most expensive dog wedding was reportedly $158,187.26 .  Baby Hope Diamond and Chilly Pasternak were married in Central Park in front of over 300 guests! It was all for a good cause, all the proceeds went to the Humane Society of New York.

What is your opinion about doggie weddings?

20 Things You Didn’t Need To Know!

Happy Monday one and all!  The sun is out, the sky is clear, the coffee is strong, and Bryan Adams is providing us with our morning tunes.  Pretty good way to start off the week!  How is your Monday turning out so far?

When I was a kid, I would try to learn as many random facts as possible.  It didn’t matter about what, just facts that I would spew out at any moment (I’m sure my family was more than annoyed).  Now that I’m older, I’ve learned to keep such “fascinating” things to myself during conversation.  However, I still look up random facts from time to time.  Here are a few random, and potentially useless facts just to bring a smile to your face!

  1. Cats sleep for 70% of their lives.

  1. On average there are 178 sesame seeds on a Big Mac bun.
  1. Dolphins sleep with one eye open. (I guess they’re not very trusting!)
  1. The average person laughs thirteen times a day. (I probably laugh double that!)
  1. The electric chair was invented  by a dentist. (NOT a surprise in my book.)

  1. A toothpick is the object most often chocked on.
  1. The praying mantis is the only insect that can turn its head.

  1. Louis XIV owned 413 beds. (Player)
  1. Baskin Robins once made a ketchup flavored ice cream. (I’m sorry, but EWWW.)
  1. The most used expression of any language is “O.K”.
  1. Coffee is the world’s most recognizable smell.  (My absolute favorite!)

  1. Cows sleep only three hours a day.
  1. The plastic thing at the end of your shoelace is called an “aglet”.
  1. Bubble wrap was originally designed to be used as wallpaper. (That might be fun!)

  1. Only 2% of people can lick their elbow. (Sadly, I’m not one of the 2%)

  1. American car horns are tuned to the tone of F.
  1. The porpoise is second to man as the most intelligent animal on the planet.
  1. Men are six times more likely to be struck by lightning than women.  (Nananana!)

  1. Humans blink over 10,000,000 times a year.
  1. The average lifespan of a squirrel is about nine years.

Don’t get the Monday blues, now you can say you learned something today!

Until next time lovelies!
